monday

  1. A hazy mix of goodness in the 42nd miscellanies collection.  Wardell and Wampire, Hookworms and Houses…. this was an attempted shot at an playlist of alliterative pairs, foiled fairly early and easily.

  2. Monday Miscellanies are back from an extended holiday break with a collection of newbies from oldies.  New tracks from Gold Panda, These New Puritans, Surfer Blood and a great omen for the new album from the Love Language included.  Happy Mon-Wednes-day.

  3. This week’s disjointed theme is that of nostalgia.  Hear it live in Theme Park, Wire, Bell XI and more…

  4. More miscellanies…. this week featuring songs with extremely long titles.  Mostly.

  5. My favourites in this week’s miscellanies include a new Woodkid track (his album finally came out last week), a great one from Fear of Men and a Grimes-esque  Butterclock.

  6. A range of dark choices in this week’s miscellanies… with a surprise and welcome return from Devendra Banhart too..

  7. Today’s mondays are coming at you from the heart of Texas… but not in the way we’d intended.  A SXSW roundup coming in the next week or two… for now, here’s new tracks by Ski Lodge, the Allah-Lahs, John Grant and Surfer Blood.

  8. Orchestral pop, baroque rock, garage slop and a bit of extraterrestrial bee-bop in today’s miscellanies.

  9. A collection of big ones this week with new tunes from Phoenix, Johnny Marr and Kurt Vile…. not to mention some great new finds in Lady Lamb the Beekeeper and EAT SKULL.

  10. Monday’s come and go…. but here’s a few tracks that’ll stick with you…. especially Four Tet’s entrancing (and ridiculously titled) latest.

  11. Monday Miscellanies have been on a bit of a holiday over the last few weeks as other miscellaneous items have taken unwarranted precedence.  But it’s back and marginally worse than before better than ever!  This week we’ve got a few tracks from some of the big releases of the past few months including Ducktails, The Joy Formidable and Veronica Falls.

  12. 30 is the new 20….. so for the thirtieth edition of the miscellanies we’ve got a fine array of new tracks…. including a new personal favourite by Teleman (Django Django & Alt-J fans will want to watch out for these guys.

  13. Self-proclaimed hindi-rock from Elephant Stone and some new sounds from notorious Berlin-based prog-rock-sunset-lover Sridhar bookend this week’s miscellanies to give it a distinctly Indian theme.  But also in there you have Jens Lekman’s tale of fans helping him out during Hurricane Sandy and a new James Murphy-produced Pulp recording.

  14. The first miscellanies of 2013 is also the first from HSM’s brand new SoundCloud account (go get following).  Other than that, it’s back to business with a great new track from Eels, sneak previews from the Phosphorescent and Local Natives album and a jazzy little track from UK-beatmaker Vanilla.

  15. Monday Miscellanies

Yes folks, it’s new column time. This time: Monday Miscellanies (aka weekly playlists).

Whilst the focus of this blog will return to album reviews, just as nature intended it to be, there’s always a few tracks here and there that simply must be shared.  So instead of simply opening the firehose at ya, they’ll be wrapped up and every Monday plonked into a lovely playlist for your enjoyment.  They’ll mostly be new discoveries or upcoming singles but who knows, it’s a beginning of the week experiment…
